St. Lucia's day symbolizes, especially for the Scandinavians, the opening of the festive season that leads to Christmas. More specifiacally, the Swedish make a full-scaled celebration. They organize festivities, where little girls in white robes carry wreaths with candles on their heads. They even prepare particular sweets for this day! Although the "greek" Lucia is supposed to celebrate on the 4th of June, my late grandmother used to celebrate her name on the 13th of December and so do I!
This year, I attempted to prepare the "Lussekatter" and bring them to the office to treat my colleagues, along with some candles... Unfortunately I overbaked them so they feel like pebbles! I brought christmas cookies instead!
